ROAD ACCIDENT CLAIMS
Road Accident Claims

Most people travel on our roads on a regular basis and as a result are exposed to the most common risk of personal injury in the UK. If you have been injured in a road traffic accident that is not your fault either as a driver/rider or as a passenger/pedestrian you may be able to claim personal injury compensation.
George Ide, Philips is one of the South's leading Personal Injury Solicitors (see Chambers Legal Guide to the Legal Profession 2007). The head of the dedicated Personal Injury Department, Tony Goff was a founder member of MASS (Motor Accident Solicitors Society) and its current Chairman. He is a Fellow of the College of Personal Injury Lawyers and is nationally recognised for his reputation in high value catastrophic injury claims.
Each year our specialist team deals with thousands of cases and recovers on average over 10 million pounds in compensation each year from all manner of road traffic accidents including: car accidents, motor bike accidents, cycling accidents and pedestrian accidents.
What should I do if I have been involved in an accident?
- The law requires, if you are involved in an accident that you stop and exchange name, address and insurance details with the other parties.
- You should then prepare a detailed account of what happened including a sketch of the location and if possible photographs.
- You must ensure that you have the name and address of the other driver and any other witnesses.
- You must not admit liability (even if you think it is your fault) as this will place you in breach of your insurance contract.
- If you have been injured you must seek medical advice as soon as possible, with some injuries, particularly whiplash it may take time for symptoms to develop.
- You must notify your insurers.
- You must keep a record of your out of pocket expenses (as well as receipts).
What if the other party does not stop or is uninsured?
In the UK it is possible to claim compensation for injuries sustained even where the other party cannot be traced or is uninsured. Such claims are handled by a Government funded organization called The MIB (Motor Insurers Bureau).
Claims through the MIB are more complex than ordinary claims and special rules apply. Here at George Ide, Phillips we have many years experience in dealing with MIB claims and can lead you through this potential minefield. If you are involved in such an accident you must report it to the police as soon as possible or your claim will fail at this early stage.
How can I claim?
George Ide, Phillips Personal Injury Lawyers have been involved in road traffic accident claims since the 1970's and have a wealth of experience. Now most claims are funded on a "...no win no fee" basis legally described as "Conditional Fee Agreement" (CFA). At the outset CFA's had a bad press with some unscrupulous operators exploiting claimants. We at George Ide, Phillips have an "ethical" policy and ensure that whether your claim is for a whiplash, broken bones, spinal injury or brain injury or other more serious injuries you make no payment of any sort and will receive 100% of your compensation if your claim in successful. If your claim is unsuccessful you will pay nothing and your opponent's costs will be covered by insurance.
What else can George Ide, Phillips do for me?
