Our Client, who was 81 years of age and the main carer for her husband, tripped over as a result of lack of lighting in the grounds of a local premises.
It was discovered that this was not the first time that such an accident had happened in this area. The injuries sustained were a black eye, a cut above the eye which needed steri strips, a bleeding nose, severe bruising to the right side of her face, her right side and hip and a soft tissue injury to her right wrist. The accident also completely knocked her confidence and effected her ability to look after her husband.
The Defendants initially admitted liability but then withdrew this admission and we had to progress Court proceedings until quite a late stage before a suitable settlement was achieved. Thankfully our Client made a fairly good recovery and damages of £7,500 were received.
